Military Surplus Clothing & Boots
Tips for Buying Surplus Clothing
- Jackets tend to be cut slim — if you are between sizes, size up, especially if layering over jumpers or thermals.
- Trousers are often adjustable — many combat and field trousers have drawstring or button adjusters at the waist, giving 2–4 cm of adjustment either side of the label size.
- Shrinkage — wool items (jumpers, berets, No1 dress jackets) may have shrunk slightly from washing. Check the measurements listed in the product description rather than relying solely on the label size.

Jackets & Shirts — Chest Size Guide
British military jackets and shirts use a three-number sizing code printed on the label, for example 180/104/88. These are body measurements in centimetres:
- First number — Height of the wearer (cm)
- Second number — Chest size (cm)
- Third number — Waist size (cm)
Always measure your body, not your existing clothing. Use a soft tape measure over light clothing.
